Racoon River Valley Trail Underpass Mural Project
City of Waukee Public Art
You should apply if you're a muralist or team with at least two completed public art commissions of $10,000 or more.

About
The City of Waukee Public Arts Program is looking for an artist or team to paint a mural inside the pedestrian and bicycle underpass near NW 20th Street and Douglas Parkway, on the Racoon River Valley Trail near the city's edge. The tunnel is 12 by 10 feet and 164 feet long. The theme is wildflowers and nature, or a message of welcome. The mural is temporary, with a lifespan of up to five years, and must use spray, acrylic or exterior paint. The budget is up to $10,000 and covers design, wall preparation, materials and installation. The Waukee Public Art Advisory Commission names three finalists, who each receive a $500 stipend to refine their proposal before an interview. Applicants email sketches, a letter of interest, a resume, references and work samples.
Eligibility
Artists or artist teams who have completed two commissioned indoor or outdoor public artworks of at least $10,000 each, show an understanding of Waukee's character, and can join a virtual interview if needed. No travel costs are covered for site visits before selection.
Applications happen on City of Waukee Public Art's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
