About
Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids runs the annual Ray and Nancy Loeschner Art Competition for two-dimensional work, including photography, inspired by the Gardens' grounds and collections. Entries open September 1 and close December 1, 2026; finalists are notified in December, jurying happens in January 2027 and winners are named in February. For the 2025 competition the Gardens gave two $5,000 purchase awards, one for 2D work and one for photography, and winning pieces join the permanent collection and may be reproduced with credit to the artist.
Eligibility
Artists aged 18 or older working in a two-dimensional format, including painting, drawing, prints, pastels and photography; work should be inspired by Meijer Gardens, though visiting the site is not required.
