SoMad Bathroom Design Open Call
SoMad
You should apply if you're an artist, designer or architect who can build a permanent installation in New York and be on site for key phases.
About
SoMad is moving into a new building in 2027 and invites artists, designers, architects and interdisciplinary creatives to propose permanent, site-specific environments for eight of its bathrooms. Project budgets range from $5,000 to $25,000, with the artist fee set at roughly 30 to 40 percent of the budget and a minimum of $2,500. SoMad's contractors cover standard construction and its team provides installation support. Applicants complete a nine-section online form with a visual proposal PDF; finalists interview and selection is announced by January 22, 2027.
Eligibility
Artists, designers, architects and interdisciplinary creatives; New York-based or able to be on site for key project phases is preferred. No prior bathroom design experience is required.
Applications happen on SoMad's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
